Alison Flew
I am a tonal realist painter of contemporary still life subjects, preferring to work in oils on canvas and linen. I like my paintings to reflect the simple beauty of seemingly ordinary objects, painting them on a large scale focusing on colour, form and most importantly, light, so that they transcend their utilitarian elements.
I enjoy the challenge of authentically reproducing colours and creating the illusion of transparency, textures and luminance on a two-dimensional surface.
My paintings take many hours to create, from composition, through layers of oil paint, with an attention to intricate details.
My work has been selected as a finalist in The Fleurieu Art of Food and Wine Prize, The Characters of the Fleurieu Art Prize, the Tasting South Australia Exhibition.
