The Strand Gallery will be participating in the Festival Fleurieu 2023 (the tenth festival) for the very first time. It was last held in 2021 when the ten town and rural communities of the Fleurieu Coast celebrated diverse aspects of artistic endeavour, from literature to visual art, music to environment, performance to history, to food and wine. Life on the Fleurieu is enriched with our dynamic community of creative artists, historians and environmentalists who reflect and shape the regional identity of the region.
The Strand Gallery will present the artistic response of artists who live and work in the Fleurieu Peninsula. These include, Sally Deans, Dzint Jurevicius, John Lacey, Halinka Harrison, Steven Harrison, Scott Hartshorne, Tom O’Callaghan, Jane Smeets and Chris Summer. This includes paintings and drawings of unique locations in the Fleurieu by these professional artists with a special highlight on the fauna and flora of the area including intricate drawings of beach specimens and textiles using materials sourced from the sea.
The gallery will be opened from 10am to 4pm from Friday 21st to Sunday 30th April and we are happy to host groups during this time. John Lacey, one of our principal artists will be opening his Studio and Green Tank Gallery in Mount Compass during this time from 11am to 5pm.
